Do You Blame God for a Mad World?
Most would probably agree that we live in a mad world. There’s no need to go into details to underscore that statement, because it’s self-evident. How many tend to affix blame for their woes? More specifically, how many blame God for this mad world?
We hear it all the time: “If God is so good, why is there so much suffering the world?” Many have addressed this question. Honestly, there are many things that have been said and could be said about it, but we’ll keep this fairly brief.
Here is one thing important: do not equate the bad and wicked things of this world with God’s character. Shortly, you will see that it is not the result of His nature. That is, if you are willing to see.
It is important that the evil in the world does not become the lens through which we view God. If we are completely honest, the bad in the world reflects fallen humanity; which by the way, reveals the validity of the Bible. The Word of God prophesied and warned us of the evil that was to come, and come it did.
Was It God’s Decision?
One decision none of us had was to be born; however, God does give us the decision to be born again. Which is one thing that reveals the goodness of God. When Adam and Eve were created, they were given decision as to whether to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:17 [no, it’s not an apple tree]).
Man was commanded not to eat of it; and yet, he had a choice as to whether to obey the command. God did not remove that decision. Yes, the tempter tempted Eve and they both ate. Nonetheless, it was still their choice. The devil did not make them eat it (read Genesis 2 for the full story). What was the result?
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.
Sin entered into the world, and it went downhill from there. Humanity became more sinful as time progressed, and we have seen the results.
Please don’t say if it was you in the garden, you would not have eaten the fruit. Have you been 100 percent obedient to God? Are you able to be upright apart from Jesus? Are you saying you have never sinned? Are you saying you haven’t made bad decisions and choices based on lust?
Yes, God could have removed the choice; but then, choice without choice is no choice at all. Just as He never forced anyone to love Him. He could have made us robots, but robots cannot truly love. Each of us must decide for ourselves whether we will love or not. Many get upset at the thought of having their right to make their own decisions removed; therefore, it would be totally disingenuous to be upset with God over Him not interfering with our will.
On a side note: one reason many reject God, or say He doesn’t exist is so they can do their own thing without consequences. Moreover, if one doesn’t want God around, how can he expect God to intervene in his life when things go bad? Just saying!
The Mad World Will Be Gone
It’s so easy to be consumed by what we see around us that we forget it’s all temporary. The day is coming when the world as we know it will no longer exist.
Revelation 21:1-4 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of Heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her Husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
God made the Provision for a fallen world: Jesus Christ. He invites us to the new Heaven and Earth in which there is no more suffering. The decision rests on every individual. God is a Father with Whom there is no comparison. His desire has always been for all be in relationship with Him, minus sin and suffering. But He does not infringe on our decision to accept His invitation to have that relationship.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
People can use the victim card and blame God for all their woes, or they can own it. That is, admit they are sinners and receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. By the way, once you’ve received Jesus Christ, you’re no longer considered a sinner. It’s in the Bible, look it up.
