Have you ever wondered what happened to those who had what seemed to be a powerful ministry and then disappeared? You know, a flash in the pan. Here today, gone tomorrow. This is not talking about those whom the Lord moved in a new direction and as a result, you don’t see them anymore. This is about those who crashed and burned.
In some instances, some who were anointed for a specific ministry tried to jump ahead of the appointed time for which it was specified.
It’s not that they did not have anything to offer; it was they did not have a full offering to give.
Everyone has a destiny from God to fulfill. While He may do a quick work in people, there is still a process in place. You cannot expect to bypass that process and still be effective for His kingdom. You need to become the person God called you to be before you can fulfill your part of the plan. That is not discounting the growth people go through while they are fulfilling their calling; however, there is a place of maturity as a starting point. For example, if you have an orphan mentality, how do you expect to walk confidently by faith as a mature son or daughter of God? An orphan is fatherless, and one who has an orphan spirt (mindset, or mentality) is one who believes in his heart he is still fatherless, even though God is his Father. He does believe God is a Father, but has a hard time comprehending God is his Father. He is detached from Him and therefore, acts and begs like an orphan. In fact, this is one reason people try to jump ahead. They equate what they do with being who they are, therefore, they feel the need to hurry in order do those things they are called to do before their time. Until they realize their identity is found in Jesus Christ and they are children of God by adoption, they will not become who God called them to be. Identity matters!
Romans 8:14 – 17 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15. For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16. The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Does a king send a messenger without first giving him a message? Why then, would you try to deliver a message the King has not yet given you? A reason some find their messages have little effect is because they don’t have one from God. It’s their message; not His. Messages are birthed within and from them, teachings emerge at the appropriate time and place. Knowing a lot of Scripture does not mean you have the message. The Father does not allow for His children to be hypocrites. They cannot speak what they have not lived, or at a minimum will live. A hypocrite is an actor pretending to be who he or she is not. If you teach a principle of God that you have not lived yet, that teaching will carry you into process of fulfillment. Gods’ Word does not return void and He does legitimize His children.
Does a good messenger deliver partial messages? No, but an unfaithful one will. It is important to be faithful to the King, and be faithful to His beck and call. If He has called you to stay put, then wait patiently as a faithful messenger. You are not being faithful if you leave early. How many faithful messengers do you know who leave while the message is still being dictated? Let Him grow your ministry within before you try to go out. Indeed, wait until you are sent out.
Finally, it is important to deliver what the Lord has given you to deliver. You cannot deliver someone else’s message. He is very intentional in what He does, which means every message is specific to the messenger. If the ministry He gave you is important to Him, it should be important to you. Only orphans compare their ministries with others. Those who do, tend to be jealous and envious. When that happens, they become ineffective. Yes, they become the flash in the pan.
