An Overlooked Quality of Holiness
When you think of holiness, do you think of beauty? Step back, and meditate on this idea. There is a beauty to holiness. As you do, consider its significance in relation to God and how it affects your life. Drill down, don’t be casual about it. How will it affect your life, if you think of beauty in context of holiness?
Holiness is a separator between you and the world. The more intentional you are in terms of living a holy life, the less the world affects you. What would happen to anxiety if people were to focus more on holiness than all the worldly things transpiring around them?
Before going further, understand your holiness if found in Jesus; it’s not your actions or works. It’s that sweet surrender to Him, and simply putting on the New man.
Ephesians 4:23-24 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the New Man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Worship in the Beauty of Holiness
Psalm 29:2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto His name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
Holy worship is genuine. It sets its sights on glorifying God. It is well pleasing to Him and increases the sense of connection to the Lord. It helps keep the believer anchored in the Secret Place of the Most High.
Psalm 96:8-9 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto His name: bring an offering, and come into his courts. O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before Him, all the earth.
Agreement and Holiness
Psalm 110:3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of Thy power, in the beauties of holiness (in holy array) from the womb of the morning: Thou hast the dew of Thy youth.
Those who refuse holiness, resist the will of God. Conversely, the more you embrace His holiness, the more you agree with Him. Should you find yourself resisting the will of the Lord, it might be prudent to ask yourself about which direction you’re leaning. Am I leaning toward God or am I leaning toward the world? Am I allowing the unholy things of the world to wrongly influence me?
1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.
Your Perspective on Beauty
What do you consider to be beautiful? When answering that question, you may discover through which lens you view things. Has your perspective been spiritual, or has it been carnal?
There certainly is a profound beauty in a life lived in holiness. Have you ever noticed that while walking in the Spirit, the things of the world have no effect. Interestingly, it is very difficult to measure up to what those in the world consider beautiful. Comparisons with one another plays a big part. How many ever feel like they’re enough in that realm? Even those whom the media call the most beautiful are often times very insecure. The various addictions in which many find themselves reveal this simple truth. Not to mention the jealousy and envy involved.
Another fascinating thing about holiness is it keeps you centered, which means having a life filled with love, joy and peace. A holy centered life is void of jealousy and envy. The need to feel superior to others does not exist. As a matter of fact, the polar opposite is true. By the way, self-righteousness has no part in holiness. When you’re squared away with your position in Jesus, your desire will be to lift others up; not put them down. The beauty of holiness is love.
