The Relevance of God’s Word

Some Say God’s Word is Archaic

Many have said God’s Word is archaic, and holds no relevance in modern society. They want us to believe the rules should change to fit the times, while culture should dictate how they are framed. This is nothing new.

For eons, people have been trying to eliminate His Word, because they want to eliminate Him. They want to do whatever they feel is relevant to them without restraint, or accountability. They want to be the moral authority. On that note, some have the audacity to think they are more moral than God.

What they don’t realize is they are actually opposing themselves when they oppose Him. Without His Word, society falls apart. For instance, Jesus commanded us to love one another. What happens when you eliminate love? Hatred and fear prevail. If one could eliminate God, one would eliminate love. There is no love without Him.

Be Compassionate Towards Them

2 Timothy 2:24-26 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

It might serve us well to remember those who are in opposition to God are snared by the devil. While on the Cross, why do you suppose Jesus said, “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do?” This passage makes it clear they are taken captive at his will. The deceiving thing about being self-willed, or having a will of iron is that it leads one to believe he or she is in control. That it makes him or her impervious to the devil’s schemes. Little do they know. Romans sums it up well: Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools (Romans 1:22).

We’re called to be patient and gentle, just as God is with us. It’s way too easy to get self-righteous, and confrontational. In short, don’t allow the flesh resurrect, and take over. There’s far too much at stake. The goal is repentance and reconciliation; not adversity.

Do you remember your former state, before receiving Jesus Christ?

Ephesians 5:8-9 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;).

Ephesians says you were darkness; not in darkness. Do you remember becoming aware of your self-deception and the need for a Savior? What about the turmoil, fear and anxiety. Perhaps, it was some addiction that had its ugly hooks in you. Did your heart cry out for mercy? We all needed someone to speak the truth in love to us. We needed God to reveal Himself to us. However we heard it, His Word became very relevant to us. Freely you have received, freely give!

His Word Never Changes

The Word of God is the same yesterday, today and forever. It is timeless, for His Word existed before He spoke time into existence. It is steadfast and gives us peace and stability, even when changing times and cultures are filled with turmoil. Confusion awaits those who reject it, or try to change it to fit their agenda.

By the way, man has created all kinds of innovative things that has affected times and cultures. Making us modern as it were. Do remember where the creativity originated. It is important to note, however, biblical principles are timeless treasures that hold us together.
