The secret place is a place of perfect peace. Fear is eradicated in the presence of the Lord because He is love. Yet, in His presence there is the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom (Proverbs 1:7; 9:10). Therefore, the Father is enable to impart knowledge and wisdom, especially while we rest in His peace. When a person is in a state of peace, he is more able to receive instruction freely because there is not the stress that hinders the thought process. When a person is stressed-out, he can reach a threshold where he cannot receive anymore input, or at least is limited in his ability to clearly receive it. It is similar to telephone lines during a busy holiday, when so many people are making phone calls at one time that the circuit boards overload. Suddenly phone calls cannot get through, and people are unable to receive. When we need God’s wisdom, we need to get quiet before Him. We need to enter into the secret place of the Most High.
We are told to, “Cast all our cares upon Him.” That means it is time to unload. In Matthew 11:28 Jesus said, “Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” It is too easy to load ourselves down with things we are not meant to carry, even though we are not designed to worry and carry heavy burdens. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Be careful for nothing (do not be anxious about anything); but in every thing with prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Do you suppose when the Scripture says, “Do not be anxious for anything,” it means anything?
People have the misconception that part of being responsible is worry. Somewhere down the line they learned if they do not worry, they are not taking responsibility. This is a trick of the enemy to shorten our life through stress, and hinder our relationship with God through fear. In truth, our responsibility is to pray and not worry. While in a state of peace the Lord is more able to impart to us what is needed for any given circumstance. “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). Whatever action we need to take to resolve any given situation can be given if we will stop and listen to the voice of God. If we constantly take counsel with fear, playing the “what-if” game, we will never fully enjoy the rest found in the secret place. We will be more apt to make decisions that are based upon fear instead of faith. Here is a simple principle: there is no “what-if!”
People often worry about things that will never happen -“what-if?” “What if the sky falls?” God has always been able to keep the sky in place, and is faithful to continue to do so. There is no “what-if!” The “what-if” game is a waste of energy. In the secret place there is no “what-if;” there is only God! Remember, what is impossible with man is possible with God. Cast all your cares upon Him. We are told when we dwell in the secret place of the Most High, “Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in the darkness: nor the for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at they right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee” (Psalm 91:5-7).
Remember, God knows every situation or circumstance you will ever be in, and He has made the provision for each one. Therefore, rest in the secret place by casting all your cares upon Him, and put your trust in Him! He really does care for you!
