Your Life is Being Recorded
Are you aware that your life is being recorded, even as you read this? No, weâre not talking about Big Brother spying on you, or conspiracy theories for that matter. True, much of our privacy has been lost, but then our lives were never truly private. Even if the government or any other entity were to track your every move, they would not be able to monitor your every thought, emotion, or deepest darkest secret.
In short, they may learn some things about you, but they could never learn everything there is to know. Even if you were able to go completely off grid, you would still be monitored. In fact, you are being completely monitored, thoughts and all, right now.
Luke 12:2-3 But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known. Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed upon the housetops.
Books will be Opened
Revelation 20:12-13 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
At the Great White Throne Judgment, books will be opened, and the dead will be judged out of those things written, according to their deeds. While this may specifically address those who will ultimately be condemned for eternity, it is important to note those who belong to Jesus will have to give an account for their lives as well.
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
These are sobering thoughts to say the least. It is so awesome that we have the grace and mercy of God, knowing we are saved by that grace through faith. Nonetheless, we must not neglect the fear of the Lord. Not in the sense of being in constant terror, but that reverent fear that recognizes He is God and we are not! He has the ultimate say.
What Will Be Read About You?
So, how are you living? Are you living for God, or for yourself? Who or what has first place in your life? Anecdotally, I often ask myself, âAm I really making this life God gave me, count? Am I in the center of His will, or have I been trying to center Him on mine?â
2 Timothy 2:1-5 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please Him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
Can I honestly say, âI serve God,â while deciding how I will serve? Itâs one thing to do a âgood thingâ; it is quite another to do the right thing. Living a life of presumption will not end well.
There are many elements to the question of what will be written about any of us. One thing is for certain, none of us will be able skirt the truth. We will have no one to blame for any shortcomings or failures, especially since God gave us all we need to live a godly life.
2 Peter 1:3-4 Seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
It would be prudent for all of us to ask Him whatâs being written, and what needs changing. Perhaps, we all could summon the courage to ask Him to show us what we need to see, to include areas of repentance. We cannot afford to live in self-deception.
